About Me

Instructional design and e-learning development allow me to use my unique blend of instructional and technical knowledge to benefit any business looking to improve employee performance through training modules. I design interactive, full-length, scenario-based trainings using Articulate Rise, Storyline, and PowerPoint. I can also create shorter training modules and job aids using Camtasia, Vyond, and Canva to help meet your business needs.

After completing my Bachelor's degree, I spent most of the next two decades in education. During that time, I earned a Master's degree in educational technology and looked for opportunities to include tech into my lessons whenever possible.  While looking for another way to put my degree to use, I discovered the field of instructional design and enrolled in the Applied Instructional Design Academy to learn the skills specific to the field. My years of experience in education combined with my technical knowledge allowed me to upskill and learn the in's and out's of the instructional design process.

My unique skillset includes 7 years as an Athletic Director and 18 years of coaching. Staying within budget, following strict regulations, and serving as a mediator for upset people is all in a day's work for an Athletic Director. I've got the added bonus watching our girl's basketball team win a State Championship last year.  Throughout my coaching career, I have focused on building upon existing skills, introducing strategy, and emphasized the importance of teamwork and resiliency during tough times. I bring all of these unique leadership skills and experiences with me to the instructional design field.

Outside of work, I am a husband and father. I have been married to my lovely wife for 20 years and we have 3 wonderful children. Spending more time with them was the primary motivator for me to enter instructional design field.

My Design Process

My process follows the ADDIE model. Analyze the situation; business problem and goals, learners, etc. and decide on the best course of action. Design the module through design documents and storyboards. Develop the module using the appropriate tool that was decided upon in the analyze phase. Implement the training through the learning management system or other approved method. Finally, evaluate the effectiveness of the module.
